Never Beyond His Reach
Jeannette’s Story
When did you first come to know Christ?
I grew up Catholic, and from an early age my grandmother instilled in me the importance of loving God, trusting Him, and praying. Those early lessons planted the seeds of faith that have stayed with me throughout my life.
What is your testimony?
As an adult, I realized that I wanted a deeper understanding of God. I felt a desire to strengthen my faith and grow closer to Him again. Looking back, I can see that God has always been with me, even during seasons when I wasn't praying consistently or doubted that He was near. I have gone through stressful times, life-changing seasons, and significant losses, but I have also experienced incredible blessings. I truly cannot explain how I have overcome many of life's challenges or reached where I am today without God's presence, guidance, and grace—even when I was distant from Him.
What made you walk away from the Lord?
Whenever I have become distant from God, it has often been because I felt overwhelmed by life's demands and convinced myself that I didn't have enough time. At times, difficult experiences and even interactions within the church contributed to that distance. I believe people in the church generally have good intentions, but sometimes new believers can feel overwhelmed when others try to impose their own understanding rather than meeting people with patience, grace, and openness.
What provoked your heart to turn to Christ and come back to the church?
My desire to know God more deeply and understand Him better is what continually draws me back. Through every season, I have recognized His faithfulness and realized that He never abandoned me, even when I felt far from Him. Knowing that He has always been by my side has strengthened my desire to walk closely with Him and continue growing in my faith.
What are some of your giftings that came from your walk and experiences in life?
I believe God has given me a servant's heart. I have a desire to help others, protect those around me, and be someone who listens without judgment. I also value being open-minded and understanding that everyone is on their own journey. I want to meet people where they are and encourage them rather than rush their growth.
What is your prayer for people who may be where you once were?
My prayer is that they would not give up. I pray they would be patient with themselves and not feel pressured to have everything figured out immediately. God will lead them where they need to be in His perfect timing. No matter how far they may feel from Him, He never gives up on His children, and His love and grace remain constant.
God is a God of restoration. What has He restored to you that has meant the most?
What God has restored in me that means the most is forgiveness—especially forgiveness toward myself—and a healthier understanding of who I am. I have often been hard on myself and struggled with feelings of failure when things didn't work out as I had hoped. Through His grace, God has reminded me that not every disappointment is my fault and that His love is not based on perfection. He has restored peace, understanding, and the freedom to trust Him with the things beyond my control.
